Pokémon Inferno X erscheint am 26. September in Japan

Pokémon Inferno X will be released in Japan on September 26

It's official! The hotly anticipated Pokémon TCG set Inferno X will be released in Japan on September 26, 2025 – and as previously speculated, a fan favorite is in the spotlight: Mega Charizard X returns!

The set was originally leaked through trademark applications and has now finally been confirmed. For many collectors, this could be a long-held dream come true—after all, Mega Charizard was last active in the XY Block in 2016 !

Charizard – the eternal star of the TCG

Pokémon TCG has a clear tradition: In almost every cycle, Charizard is one of the highlights of the second or third major expansion – and Inferno X impressively continues this series:

  • 2014 – XY: Flashfire

  • 2017 – Sun & Moon: Burning Shadows

  • 2020 – Sword & Shield: Darkness Ablaze

  • 2023 – Crimson & Purple: Obsidian Flames

  • 2025 – Inferno X with Mega Charizard X

The return of Mega Evolutions gives the set a special meaning – especially for collectors who love the XY style.

The second MEGA set – with a large block plan

Inferno X is the second major MEGA set of the new block. It follows the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets, which focus on Mega Lucario-ex and Mega Gardevoir-ex, on August 1st .

Together with the starter decks featuring Mega Gengar-ex and Mega Diancie-ex, which will be released on September 5th , it's clear that the new MEGA series is bringing back old favorites – before new Mega Evolutions are expected to step into the spotlight with the release of Legends: ZA .

Planned release schedule (Japan)

  • June 6th : Black Bolt & White Flare – with all 156 Pokémon from Unova

  • August 1st : Mega Brave & Mega Symphonia

  • September 5th : Starter Sets Mega-Gengar-ex & Mega-Diancie-ex

  • September 26th : Inferno X – with Mega Charizard X

What awaits us in “Inferno X”?

Inferno X is part of the new MEGA block , which is based on classic Mega Evolutions. The two sets Mega Brave (with Mega Lucario ex) and Mega Symphonia (with Mega Gardevoir ex) will launch on August 1st . They will be followed by:

  • September 5th : Two starter decks with Mega Gengar ex and Mega Diancie ex

  • September 26th : Inferno X with Mega Charizard X

The strategy seems clear: The TCG makers will first let iconic Mega Pokémon shine – before completely new Mega forms appear later, probably around the release of Pokémon Legends: ZA .

What does this mean for the English version?

In the Western TCG version, Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia will likely be released as an August/September set . Inferno X is expected to arrive in Europe and North America as a November 2025 set —presumably alongside the cards from the Mega Gengar and Mega Diancie decks.

Our conclusion: Inferno X will be a mega banger

With its focus on Mega Charizard X , strong artwork potential, and integration into the new MEGA block, Inferno X is poised to become one of the most popular sets of 2025. Collectors , players , and Charizard fans should mark September 26th in their calendars and pre-order in time!
