Iconic Pokémon in the Alliance of Like-Minded Ones

This expansion brings an exciting mix of popular Pokémon-GX from various regions, from Kanto to Alola. New TAG TEAMs include Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor-GX, which can instantly evolve Grass-type Pokémon to Stage 2, and Psyduck & Slowpoke-GX, which offer exciting coin flip effects with their [Twinkling Time-GX] Ability.

Raichu & Alolan Raichu-GX use their lightning attacks to paralyze opposing Pokémon and deal high damage. Espeon & Deoxys-GX strengthen Psychic-type decks with their increased damage and ability to spread damage with Cross Division-GX.

Mewtwo & Mew GX were particularly anticipated. As a second Psychic-type, they have the [Perfection] Ability, allowing them to copy any GX or EX attack from the Bench or discard pile. Their [Wonder Duo GX] is one of the most powerful attacks, healing all damage from your Pokémon for just one additional Energy.

The Darkness-types also receive reinforcements with Umbreon & Darkrai GX and Mega Sableye & Tyranitar GX . These tag teams offer powerful attacks and additional Prize cards. The Dragon-type is boosted by Garchomp & Giratina GX, which can deal high damage.

Other notable Pokémon-GX in this expansion include Latios-GX and Jirachi-GX for the Psychic type, Dragonite-GX and Agony-GX for the Dragon type, and Aerodactyl-GX for the Fighting type.

New mechanics and their effects

After two sets full of TAG TEAMs, the dynamic duos have proven popular with Trainers. They not only offer great artwork for collectors, but also increased HP, leading to longer and more exciting matches. The boosted GX attacks of these TAG TEAMs can quickly turn the tide of a match, as successful KOs award three Prize cards.

It is speculated that the TAG TEAMs will remain until the launch of the new Shield & Sword era, which will introduce the Galar region at the end of 2019. Until then, these Pokémon duos will engage in exciting battles to see which will be the strongest in the Standard format.
